My niece fractured her collar bone and cracked to ribs on Saturday. School have a special classroom for children to work in when they have such accidents but she doesnt like it as she was the only one there and is bored, so now today hasnt gone to school, she does say she is too tired, which Im sure she is, but she has a history of bad attendance. I know Im being hard but Im worried this will start up her not wanting to go again. Anyway, has anyone got experience on such breaks and advice on how to make the whole school thing easier. Luckily its not her writing hand that is affected.

Hello Pepsi, I don't have personal experience of this but friends did. Due to surgery on both legs at once their daughter was on crutches for several months and really struggled to get around. The school has a policy of allowing such students to leave lessons 5 minutes or so early so that they can get to their next room before the mad scramble in the corridors. That way they get to sit in regular lessons but avoid being hurt in between. Could that be an option?

I would let her stay home for this week at least. A fractured collar bone and cracked ribs can be very painful. Also she'll fine it hard to concentrate at the moment.
