parenting and ex husbands - any advice

how do you parent with exs? I always thought what they do when the children are with them is up to them and the same the other way round. I don't agree with a lot of what he does, but it's not for me to say anything - it's up to him. He isn't my friend, he never supported or worked with me when we were together, so I am not going to start now - we left 3years ago. Anyone do things differently? Have I got it completely wrong?
