Can't sleep - not sure how I'm going to get through tomorrow

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post, but it's about a relationship that's really important to me, but the bereavement board wouldn't be right.

Tomorrow I have to have my beloved horse put to sleep - she is very poorly so there is no other choice - she would have a very miserable life. I love this girlie so much, I have spent four years battling for her, to keep her with me and to give her a happy, pain free life. I can't believe tomorrow will be the last day I see her. I will be there so she goes surrounded with love, but I just can't bear the thought that in 12 hours she will be gone.

I don't think sleep will be my friend tonight.

Really sorry to hear that.

(((((OP)))))

FWIW - you're showing your horse the last and greatest kindness.

Oh no I completely feel your pain. I was in the same situation a few years ago where I had a 6 year old ex racehorse who I had spent a couple of years re-schooling. He somehow managed to cut his hock in his stable and the cut was no longer than an inch but 2 operations later they told me he would never be able to walk again so would have to spend the rest of his life in a stable. What sort of life would that have been for him?! I was devastated but I knew it was the best thing for him really. :( hope you're ok and today goes as well as it possibly can. At least she's going knowing that you love her and have done everything you can. Sorry for the essay by the way! X

So sorry op, I've had this with a much loved dog when her back legs went. Hardest thing I've ever done but you know if you keep her alive its a selfish act for you. Letting her go to be pain free is the decent thing to do even as it breaks your heart.
I will be thinking of you.

So sorry you are going through this op. The love you feel for your poor horse shines through in your post. What a difficult and heartbreaking decision you have had to make. Sending you lots of Flowers

So sorry to hear this. Having a horse is like no other relationship, you work it out together and have to trust each other totally. My horse means the world to me I dread this day ( she's over 20 now)

Huge hugs and hope it goes as well as it possibly can.

Sounds like you've tried everything possible and you've got no option. This is the kindest thing we can do for them. Be kind to yourself too .

Ps - do think about being there with her, obviously that is massively distressing for you. I was with my friends horse and she will be with mine when the time comes, because I think she'll pick up on my distress.

Just wanted to say thank you for being there all, just getting it down really helped and I finally got about 3 hours sleep. My friend is coming with me, to make sure I'm ok x
