Can anyone recommend a buggy for taking on hols?

We need a buggy for dd who will be 9 months at the time of holiday.

I need it to be really small and slim when folded so it will fit it the very tiny boot of our zafira.

I also really need it to have swivel wheels, a seat that reclines a little, and possibley a raincover.

Don't want much do I!?

Any reccomendations?

Is it UK only? and what time of year are you going?

if abroad or any chance of sunshine i'd recommend something with a large hood, both the maclaren XT and BJCM would be good. But neither v.cheap unfortunately new.

I took my Jane Matrix which is a bulky 3 wheeler on hols and it was absolutely fine. I was put off strollers because they dont give the same ease of control and a very helpful lady in a pram shop said that this pushchair was perfect. I cant see you would save that much space either. I was delighted that I saved my pennies and having the pushchair didnt cause any extra worries. You can hire roof boxes for additional space or get some roof bars for the pushchair. Most raincovers fit all too.

HI Memoo,

I had a thread on best pushchair for travelling. Just back form long haul. Could not recommmedn the Babyjogger City Mini enough. Fulfills ALL the criteria you mention.

BOOTS had a special on (£160-ish) but even that is still expensive.

Look on youtube for review&demos on ease of use.

I now regret buying a M&P travel system. This could be all you need.

We secured the wheels with velcro&luggage straps as other folk complained of them coming off by accident.

Hope this helps.

Babyjogger City Mini (based on my love of my own babyjogger city elite).... get the play tray - then you can use it as a highchair also!

Alternatively - the micralite fastfold - because it's light fast and convenient - and the rear tyres would cope with any off-road situations.....

But really, the babyjogger city mini would put your baby's needs first - it's good enough for him to nap in, really luxurious and practical - and folds so easy - it's worth the extra £ for the design...

Forget the maclaren.

Micralite FF fits in boot of zafira (we have one) with rear wheels popped off...(simple and quick to do)..
I don't know how the city mini fits - if anyone knows - do tell - I'd be interested in the answer to that Q too!

My son sleeps fine in the micralite with it's recline no bother - and it does seem to be more comfy than a maclaren - in that the seat is a "hammock" (not hard) and the rear tyres absorb shocks so give more comfort and less bone rattling than your standard umbrella buggy would.

It's free standing when folded.

There is a knack to folding - and it doesn't go so quick and easy as online videos show - you need to practice a little before you go away (I'm only talking 3 times or so here - so not really difficult or anything).

The newest Micralite FF's have clip releases to adjust the handles to your preferred position, which is easier than the allen key on the older ones.

I ordered from mothercare - they were slow to deliver.

I would say get from pramworld.co.uk because their stuff is in stock with them and they're giving a free insect/sun mesh with theirs - (worth about £30) which could be used to make a more shaded environment for napping apart from the obvious!
