pushchair for 3yo with broken leg

Hi, 3yo dd2 has broken her leg and will be in an above knee plaster with no weight baring for 4-6 weeks. I have a basic buggy but it has no leg support so is no use. She is quite small for her age so should fit most pushchairs. Any suggestions?

Embarrassingly, we used an ordinary pushchair with a plank of wood to support the broken leg - in our defence DD's leg was only fractured, so although it was a full leg cast she was allowed to put weight on it (and did a hop, skip and a lurch everywhere)

I was told at the time that some charities will hire/lend wheelchairs for situations like these. Might be worth looking into rather than buying a new pushchair for a relatively short time - although having said that, it took DD longer to build the strength back up in the injured leg than she actually wore the cast for Sad

Hope your DD feels better soon! x

Would a mountain buggy work, i think they are good for older children. Tiggy will know she might be on later.

Baby jogger elite would be fab if she isn't that big as it has a lift up foot rest :) poor wee soul hope recovery is quick

dd1 broke her leg and had full length plaster for a few weeks in the summer term of reception. I borrowed an all-terrain buggy for a month with a plank of wood. (The buggy was a spare, kept at a grannies house) Dd sat on the plank to keep it sticking out. It worked remarkably well. This was after we'd tried to hire a wheelchair but the Red Cross didn't have any small enough.

In the last few days before it came off, she and her twin got into a lot of trouble by 'jousting' with it during break time on the playground!

I would look at a Baby Jogger Elite - there is a lift up leg rest and they retain value very well - so you shouldnt lose anything on resale. Look also for a bargain TFK Joggster Twist on Ebay - they do come up. They have lift up leg rests too. Or if this is a budget option, there is a cheap pushchair in Argos - a 3 wheeler that has a lift up footrest but I would imagine its harder to push with a 3 year old in than the other suggestions.

Thanks for the replies I think I'm going to try the plank option first and if that doesn't work look at the baby jogger on ebay
