icandy peach or uppababy vista?

Hello! FTM here, baby due in 9 weeks but midwife thinks it will be early...

Haven't decided on a buggy yet! We are ALMOST there... We want something that is nice to push and ideally would do canal paths/woods (but neither of our choices purport to do this... So we will buy an eBay cheap off roader for walks or just wear the little one on these occasions). We also want something that can convert to take 2 since ideally we would like our second within 12-18 months of the first (got to be lucky, I know!).

Our choice is between uppababy vista and icandy peach 2.

We like the vista because - friends and reviews rave about it, lovely to push, a bit lighter, a bit cheaper, just feels like a nice pram. My reservations are rumble seat is only option - at the back facing the chair unless car seat is on, and newborn either has to go in snug seat or car seat (would get an Izi-sleep to overcome the 2 hour safety rule). I just worry that as a double it's not as good an option.

The peach is pretty and folds well too, pushes beautifully - and is much better in my opinion when converted to a tandem (I don't mind that it might feel heavy). But it's more expensive and it seems that when you have problems with the icandy the service is dreadful despite the 2.5 yr guarantee. The lead time for this pram from our local shop is 8 weeks, and I know this can be inaccurate.

Which one to choose????!!! My heart says peach but worries about the aftercare... My head says vista, and I know I'd be happy with either at least for the first baby. Any thoughts?

I agree with you re the vista as a double... I dunno. I go both ways on this one, I see the sense in planning ahead but at the same time things can seem very different after you have met your baby and their unique personality... Quietly disregards any midwife suggested due dates and sticks with tried at tested average 40wk one

I would not buy the Vista as a double for newborn and young toddler (as you are suggesting a small age gap) particularly as neither the toddler or the baby would be fully comfortable, most particularly the elder child as the rumble seat is bolt upright, ridiculously so. The izi sleep is a good idea assuming you can fit it on facing forwards, it would have to face forwards with the rumble seat on as there's not enough space for it to also face backwards AND use the recline function.

The Peach would work the best for your long game should it work out how you want it to AND it would also work out as a single if your plans changed for any reason. BTW I'm sure you could obtain a single peach quicker than 8 weeks by phoning round.

Setting aside the longer term plans and double thinking for the moment, is there anything else that takes your fancy? At least half of me the half that has always been unwilling to line iCandy's pockets with ridiculous amounts of money for a pram they can't seem to deliver in a remotely timely fashion thinks that perhaps your better off dealing with single and double separately, particularly as different doubles often work better or worse for different age gaps so it's often more sensible to figure out your double requirements once you have an actual eta for the second child.

Mmm very interesting thinking, thanks! Am v hopeful I will stick with 40 weeks but have been quite poorly and contracting with it so that's why... Feeling lots better now I'm on rest tho and think I may well make it all the way! But that aside...

I do keep wondering about whether considering the long game is worth it, I know when babies arrive often your whole life plans seem to change!

We thought about the Jane Trider, that was the other - but small basket, no chance to convert, but does do the off road stuff. It also annoys me that you can only use their seats.

I'm with you about icandy, I'm quite cross about their behaviour - shame cos I like to support British companies! But it ticks lots of boxes on the beautifully smooth ride. But the vista feels cosy though I'm sure I'd catch the wheels with my driving!

I'm a useless driver at the best of times, the more the wheels protrude the worse it is... after a good few years i really should have improved!

If you set aside the price and any potential lead times and/or repair issues then on paper if you like the peach then it offers you the best of both worlds.

Another potential might be the micralite twofold but not many people have actually physically seen one yet. The babystyle oyster max is single and tandem but it's a bigger single than the peach. Tfk joggster twist with multi x carrycot is another option, then to add buddy seat down the line. More rugged, heavier to lift and less pretty. I hear great things though quality wise.

Just a single is easier to choose but i defo sympathise with the sort of thinking that's making it difficult for you to disregard the double bit.

Anyway, here's hoping that baby stays put for a good while longer

Thanks! I have seen the oyster max and wasn't keen, felt a lot more flimsy to me. Your replies have been so helpful, thanks for taking the time.

We looked up the other 2- micralite doesn't seem bad for a pair but as a single buggy I definitely prefer the peach or vista. Your comments about buying for just the one did strike home though...

Doing the maths - to convert the peach to a blossom would cost minimum £350 as it stands. Our alternative would be at worst case to sell the vista (seems to hold about £300 value on ebay) and buy something different if we need to, as suggested by ihateparties... But at least have options to use it for two should we need to. If we bought a new one then the world is our oyster! By then we will also have a better idea of when/how we use our buggy. And it wouldn't be any more expensive overall.

Hubby got excited and looked up doubles... Seems v keen on the abc direct zoom... I had to remind him we are only expecting one right now!!!

So we THINK we have decided on the Uppababy Vista (thanks tallgiraffe - your info about woods and canals made us happy!)... I'm just hoping that we can get the 2012 black frame version in funky colours... Think the other half might prefer black/red/silver... I, on the other hand really want the orange one!!! Perhaps I'll have to compromise... But don't tell him I said that!

No worries, glad to have been useful! One tip would be to make sure you get everything you want at once, because they hange the colours each year, if you want the footmuff in the same colour buy it when you buy the pram. It seems like ages away that you'll need it but it'll creep up and then you might not be able to get the one you want.

Just double check the iZi sleep can be used with the car seat adapters. We have ordered an iCandy peach 2 with maxi cosi adapters and had to get the iZi go as the sleep won't fit on the adapters.

Mm I wondered about that. Will check before we order - would probably get maxi cosi pebble if not so could at least get family fix base. Thanks for all the input everyone - it's so difficult to navigate through all this baby prep!!! x

You can get an isoFix base with the iZi go.
Not received mine yet, or my iCandy peach yet but when picking our car seat we preferred the iZi go over pebble as it has a 5 point harness instead of 3, and you can keep the hood up without the handle staying up.

Dont dismiss the Peach. I have had 3 now and they are all fab, I have had no problems with any, and I think its MUCH nicer as a double later on. Plus with the age gap you are suggesting, the Vista will be hopeless as a double.
I think a lot of the supply issues with iCandy are subsiding with much stuff now being available for next day delivery. I have had a Vista with Rumble seat and it was so problematic that you have to have absolutely the right age gap for it to work...and few people have it.
Also if you buy the Peach Blossom 2 carrycot to start with it will only cost you the Blossom kit to convert then for two (and some lower car seat adaptors if you need them) But its not safety approved, but it works and a local retailer advises this route.

I would recommend the icandy peach, I use it every day and it has lasted both for my 3 year old and 1 year old, its worth every penny and will certainly last. I didnt use it as a double as my 3 year old is a keen walker but as a single it is (I believe) the best pushchair out there!
