sheepskin for a newborn in a Bugaoo Bee?

We are about to have our first baby and have bought a Bugaboo Bee. We also have a lovely lambskin bought for us by a friend. I was wondering what everyone thought of the idea of using a lambskin in the Bugaboo Bee rather than using a cocoon? We were thinking of cutting holes in the lambskin for the straps but is the cocoon something people think is essential for making a Bugaboo Bee suitable for a newborn?

Thanks so much.

When is baby due, the cocoon for me would be about warmth so if it is a summer baby fine. Winter baby I think you need something more, you could get a custom nest for cheaper if price was an issue?

He is due November 5th so very much a winter baby! I was thinking he would be cosy enough in a snowsuit and blankets. But you are probably right. I am just so keen to have the lovely sheepskin in his pram as its so cosy! I imagine I wouldn't be able to fit the sheepskin in with the cocoon.

Thanks so much.

I disagree. The cocoon is really warm. My baby was perfect in it over the winter. He was too hot in it by late spring and I had to undo the front for him.

You can use the sheepskin in moses basket or cot if you are really keen, and in the pushchair in the summer and next winter too. I just would go for the cocoon as blankets slip and are a pita, cocoon will be perfect for a winter newborn.

i would get the cocoon. i think that a newborn baby will just be really exposed in a small pushchair laying on a sheepskin with just a snowsuit on. but then I am more a fan of a carrycot type pram myself anyway

i wouldn't cut up your nice sheepskin anyway, it'll be nice for baby to lie on in the house

tiggywunkle.. i think purplebuns meant that the cocoon is good for warmth, so if the OP was having a summer baby she would be fine with just the lambskin?

I love my bee but I find blankets a PITA (but not with my other prams!) so would add another vote for the cocoon or cosytoes. Keep sheepskin for next summer as apparently they help baby stay cool as well as warm?

I have just replaced a padded liner with a lambskin in my 4mo's pushchair and I noticed first use that he was cooler and not sweaty with the lambskin. I got mine in John Lewis and it has the holes for the straps already cut. Definitely use it in the summer for coolness if you do decide to cut the holes for the straps.
