DD is 1 today - happy birthday DD2!

We have used a Bugaboo Cam up to now, which we have liked a lot but now pretty fed-up with the 2 piece fold up and down. Similar thing happened with DD1 at a similair age and we bought a Nipper 360. It has got lots of great features, we sensibly kept it, but dont think i can face the short handle. Both DH and i are very tall and the handle on the nipper is just too short.
So i thought i was decided on a mountain buggy but then today saw a Phil n teds explorer and liked it v much. Only down side appears to be the weight, is there anything else I should be aware of?

Happy birthday to your DD2!

Hmmm, I have a cam and got a BJCM for DS when he was about 18months. Cam didn't get much use after that.

When DD arrived DS was 25months, so I got an Explorer. This is used daily for the nursery run and local shops and parks. I keep it up, really couldn't face folding it all the time. Cam kept in car boot. BJCM under the stairs or in boot. I only use the Explorer as a double, prefer the BJCM as a single.

Explorer is heavy to carry but really light to push.
Fold is simple.
Hood pops off every time it is folded.
Velcro on hood will annoyingly catch on your gloves (seasonal!).
Basket is really big and useful unless you use the back seat.
Seats well padded and comfortable.
Very easy to push one handed, better than the Cam on a camber.
Swivel hood very useful.
Single raincover very light and easy to attach.
Will get thornproof innertubes with my first puncture - but not had one yet!
Mudguards very plasticy and rub wheels.

That's all I can think of now and DD awake! HTH

Hmmm, ok thanks, really helpful.

It would be a single pushchair, DD1 was 4 last week (not good plannign on our part re. dates!) and only walks. The cam would be ebayed. If i never have to put up a frame then clip on a seat again it will be too soon!

The BJCM is a fixed handle isnt it? If im thinking of the same one it isnt high enough.

Would you buy one again?

the hood pops off all the time, its very annoying and time consuming putting it back on all the time.(similar to doing a two part fold TBH)
I had one and sold it after about 6 uses....
if i was you i'd def' go for an MB swift.

MB swift or BJ Elite (has an adjustable handle) IMHO are better. Or wait for the new Nipper with adjustable handle?

MB swift over a MB urban?

Will go and google BJ Elite.

A nipper with an adjustable handle? How long is the wait, do you know?

Ditto hood is a pain. Preferred brake on our old Sport. (Really knew it was on and pushchair wasn't going anywhere.) Prefer straps to Sport as can click them on at shoulder rather than wrestling arms through.

think new nipper is out in July, there is a thread about it on here somewhere that i read about a month ago. Will second the irritation caused by the hood coming off all the time. If i was having a single it would be the new nipper or a baby jogger summit xc (high handle and the best buggy to push ever!)

Ok, so the hood is rubbish and sounds v annoying! Changing my
Mind!

MB swift is out, handle is 'only' 106cm.

So the list

MB urban
BJ city elite
BJ summit (thanks hevster)

I need to try them out and quick before DH changes his mind!!

MB Urban Jungle has a higher handlebar height.
