Baby Jogger City mini - any good on rougher terrain?

It has great reviews everywhere but I am not sure if it is good on anything other that smooth city roads?
We could get the City Elite but it looks a lot bigger.
We want something we can do the odd off road walk with.

I think you would be better with the Elite or even the Summit which isn't much different.
Mini assembled: 100.5 x 61 x 105.5.
Elite assembled: 122 x 67.5 x 100.5
Summit assembled: 115.5 x 70 x 104
I find pushing the Mini akin to pushing a shopping trolley. Great for pavements and parks but if you want off road as such or just a nicer ride I would go for one of the others.

I managed ok on an old railway track in Lincolnshire on holiday. Some thick scrubby grass, uneven and gravel etc. It worked better than most city buggies in my opinion.

Not much good on rough terrain really. The front wheel tends to get stuck in a bit of mud/ gravel/ snow.

The summit is fabulous off road. It has much bigger rear wheels than other models, but they're all quick release so it folds very fast and can be made really compact.
The all round suspension is second to none. The best of any off road buggy out there. Not just up down motion suspension but forward and back too. Really absorbs shocks well.
It's also very stable. Does not tip easy. Even if my child climbs up, stands in the seat and leans towards the handlebar!

How about this: Mountain Buggy Breeze - it's a fixed wheel model - really compact - although can take 35kg weight - so superstrong - and is light too (about 8kg). With the footmuff included - this is a real bargain - this buggy used to retail at over £400 - and the footmuff £70 It's small enough not to get in the way at the shops and will serve you much better off road than the BJCM. The fixed wheel is fine for steering - just a little pressure on the handlebar to lift the wheel from the ground and you can steer easily.

City is pretty unstable- even in the city (although that was with the pram bit on).
I have a summit as well which I love - it's great off road- has good suspension so DS sleeps even when we are off road - and is very easy to manoeuvre - I take it on the train the whole time. It is also very easy to collapse and erect one handed.
