Please recommend me a all-terrain double suitable for a 22month old and a newborn.

DC2 is due in October when DS will be 22mo. We currently have a Chameleon, which I love but it is bulky (I drive a lot), and although good on most terrains it isn't great on country walks. And as we live in deepest, darkest Ruralshire, I would really like something that can cope with the terrain. A three wheeler probably, I'm not a big dan of side by side but p&ts are pricey and the baby at the bottom is just too close to the ground for my liking.

Any recommendations will be much appreciated.

I you don't want a p@t then I think your best bet is a Double Nipper or MB.

Although Bugaboo have a new double here

And MB have a new inline system being released soon here

I used a Nipper for lot's of combinations of ages and loved it,even the fixed wheel version was light enough to used easily around the shops,and ofcourse FAB off road.

Nipper 360. I adore mine. I have 7 month old twins but when i got it my dd (5) was able to sit comfortably in it. She was testing it to make sure it was ok for the babies, i dont make a habit of letting her use the buggy lol

The Jane looks great but I don't think it'll cope of road. I really need something that can manage on the bridalways.

Wow, love the look of the new MB+One, will definitely be keeping an eye out for that one. New baby not due till October so hopefully time for some second hand ones to have surfaced!

i would get an OLDER mountain buggy

they were bought by phil and teds and a few stockists (including chariots who were one of the original importers) have now stopped stocking them as they don't feel the build quality is very good at all

but if you get a pre-2010 one it'll be an original NZ mountain buggy (and it'll be cheaper too)

Whilst i do like the P &T 's in general (the baby is a lot less close to the ground than they seem) the quality of the Vibe is rubbish - I bought one about 2 1/2 years ago and the frame broke over a year ago and the replacement one broke after 6 months. Word on the street is they are not manufactured in NZ anymore and made cheaply in China.

I love my 360 Nipper (have 2.9 and 4 month DCs).

Bought it for £120 on ebay and can't recommend it highly enough.

Really light and manouverable and seats lie flat for newborn.
Am yet to find a doorway it doesn't fit through.

Have used Bugaboo Frog, Jane Slalom and Maclaren XT (all 2nd hand) and this is definitely my absolute fav

I can agree with lake, i havent found a door mine cant get through either. I can even manage to walk a labrador puppy (and she like to pull abit) and push the nipper 1 handed

it has to be a Phil and Teds vibe- love mine and its had daily use with no obvious wear for last 2.5 years. I got mine off ebay for £200 (double) and best thing I ever bought

The Duowalker (single- Easywalker) is great on all terrain. Very similar to a MB but folds in the middle IYSWIM.

With that new MB, the back child will boot the crap out of the child on the front. Well, mine would anyway

I have a VERY old MB. Tis like a tank (although light). Absolutely brillant and i got it for £200, including 2 carrycots, raincover etc. I still use it for my 4.5 and 2.5 YO when we have long distances to walk

I'm expecting twins in July and have just bought a Mountain Buggy Duo.
Initially I liked the Nipper 360 and it did have a much nicer price tag But when I looked at the two next to each other I felt the 3 wheels of the Nipper made it unsteady (you couldn't put a handbag on the back when it was empty) and I could easily tip it up.
The Mountain Buggy will do us better in our rural (mud and muck!) home.

Particularly in the newborn/toddler mode, the new MB looks suspiciously like the P&T style. Which is understandable when you remember P&T have just bought them out.

Another vote for the Nipper 360 here. I have 25 months between my two (and will have 26 months between middle and youngest when he/she arrives in September). It's a fab, incredibly nimble pushchair, easy to push with one hand if necessary and seems to be able to cope with everything required, including all the snow. The only down side is the rain cover tore fairly quickly; it's still usuable but looks untidy.

I loved the Mountain Buggy and the DuoWalker when we were looking at doubles, but in the end the price persuaded us and we've never regretted the decision. A couple of friends who have P&T (v popular where I live) have epxressed their envy at how easy the Nipper is to use.

BrassicaBabe - am intrigued as to how you managed to tip the 360, I've never done that in the nearly two years I've been using mine.
