Does anyone know anything about replacing the seal on a DG window?

I'm having problems with my windows and have heard that you can get them re-sealed rather than replace the whole thing. I was just wondering if any MNers had any experience of this?

We had a couple replaced as they were misted on the inside. It was about 7 years ago but very cheap.

Was it just the seal that was replaced? Who did it and did it take long? I hear conflicting opinions about it and wanted to have as much info as possible to approach my land-lady with (she's also my elderly aunt and not keen on spending money on the house without a detailed case for doing it !).

Our windows were each divided into 4 separate sections. We had one section fogged on two different windows. They replaced each section with new glass. I was expecting it to cost a couple of hundred pounds but think it was only around £60. It was on the second floor too so wasn't the easiest of jobs.

It was a company local to us that specialised in double glazing repairs. It didn't take them long. Maybe an hour or so.

All my front windows misted up between the pains last year, had to have the individual units replaced.

Did the company just do repairs or would I look for a company that fits the full window and ask about repairing just the glass?

Goober - by 'unit' do you mean the glass or the whole window? I'm so rubbish at this 'house-maintenance' malarky! Goodness knows how I'd cope if I actually owned a house .

The glass, not the entire frame.

If you look in the Yellow Pages there will be a listing for double glazing repairers.
