Ikea kitchen worktops?

If you have an ikea kitchen where did you get your worktops from? Ikea worktops seem too short from what I need. Their base cabinets seem deeper than B&Q etc so not sure if I can mix and match.

The solution is to get a length of 2X2 wood, available from any hardware shop, that measures the length of the worktop you will need. Using screws and glue join it to the worktop, with the joined bit facing the wall. Then glue the extra laminate strips that come with the worktop on top of the 2x2 wood to effectively extend the worktop by 2 inches. If you do it carefully the join should be seamless.

The problem isn't actually the worktops, but the kitchen units, which are not made for British plumbing.

Ikea also do made to measure worktops so you can have them any size/depth you want.

We got made to measure. Or you can fix lengths together. The finish depends on the kind of worktop and the quality of the workmanship - we have a corner join in our wooden worktop which you would only notice if you were looking at it.

Are you wanting wood or laminate?

I recently fitted an Ikea kitchen but used www.worktop-express.co.uk/ for my oak worktops.

I ended up getting more worktop for less £ and i felt it was a better quality than Ikea's version. You'll need the 72mm deep which gives a nice overhang to the units. I found the service/delivery and after-care from them great and the worktops look stunning :)

I just ordered some oak worktops based on Ember's recommendation, they go up to 4m, whereas ikea's were only 2.2m - will let you know when they arrive on Monday

Reporting back on the worktops - the oak is a bit lighter than the ikea ones ( although not oiled yet, so expect them to darken), but my builder was v impressed with the price of the worktop express ones - he even asked for their details - so that has to b a good sign!
