I've looked in Ikea, b&q, Next, m&s, Laura Ashley as well as various online rug sellers. Its got to be horizontal, chunky stripes. Any ideas where else I can try?

can't see pics but IIRC Cotswold Company/Scotts of Stow do chunky stripy rugs

Looks like a surf board to me. Or a camper van.

I've looked in John Lewis, nothing there. Nothing in Scotts or Cotswold either.

SKSS - Have you been into John Lewis? They have striped stair runners that you could buy a length of and have bound - might be more economical, not sure if the stripes might be a bit narrow though?

Will try Dunhelm, added bonus is that if they have anything it will be cheap. Have just spent £300 on a console table I wasn't looking for while searching for a rug in Laura Ashley!

Getting a bound stair runner, like Carrot suggests is a good idea.

What about this range.

I've bought runners here before best-carpets.co.uk/21-runners. They're cheap and cheerful, but look OK and they'll make them to length.
