New bedroom for 16 month old. Would you go with pink or save it until she's old enough to ask?

I'm careful not to push DD too much pink, in fact she has very little pink stuff ATM. I figure the time will come when she wants it and then she'll get it.

BUT, to the point, DC2 is coming when DD is 18 months old so she'll be moving out of the nursery and into a big girls room soon. I really want to make it lovely for her in the hope she won't feel too displaced It's quite a small, but bright, room and pink seems like a logical colour to use in the space. It would work well with the colours in the other bedrooms too...

So, WWYD, save it so she can have the pleasure of asking for and getting a pink bedroom when she's older, or go with it because it's easy?

The room has walnut flooring and we'll probably go with white furniture, if that makes any difference.

How about painting it a bright yellow and then getting some of those wall stickers of her favourite characters (or doing your own if you're up to it). That would be easier to up date in teh future if she wanted something more girly.

Sorry, I am pink-hater, no actually, I do not hate pink, just at times lack of choice when buying anything for little girls.
Personally, I would wait until she is "into" pink. But then again as mum of 3 boys what would I know ?

Sorry if inappropriate comment...but why don't you just leave her in the room she is in and use the other room for the new baby?

Anyway, for my DS and DD (they are 2.11 and 11m), I have done the walls neutral so that I can put anything in there - eg in DS's room, there are yellow jungle curtains and there are Thomas stickers on the wall and some night garden stickers as well. And a Thomas duvet. It isn't necessary to make the more permanent stuff like walls and floor pink, you could easily achieve a pink effect by using pink curtains, pink duvet cover and pink stickers if necessary.

Id go for neutral and add decorations to suit. We had stickarounds when dd was younger, now she has covered it with various posters, cards, and pictures. Plus she has the duvet cover, and 50millions different ornaments, etc. Her walls are white - it's a small room with a curved wall so no def boundary between wall and ceiling. White is perfect.

We left DD's room in the new house white and put a Disney Princess border on one wall. She has curtains and a duvet cover to match.

Tbh, it is not really my taste, I find it too twee but she loves it.

She is 6yo so you have a good few years of pink to go before she grows out of it.

I decorated dd's bedroom when she was 8 months old. Shabby chic...Pink walls/neutral flooring patchwork quilt and curtains. A pink dollshouse and floor cushions.

It wasn't for her totally for me she has a white iron bedstead just like the one I always wanted and was never allowed.

[disclaimer this probably says a lot more about my own ishoos than dd's preference]

I'd go for yellow. DS1 has Homebase Warm Yellow in his room and it's so bright and cheery. she's got the rest of her childhood to have pink.

Right, that's a definite no to pink. Grand, I did wonder if I was being a bit silly not to want to use it!

I'm not too keen on yellow, it just doesn't really appeal to me for some reason. Also it's a south facing room and even a soft yellow may well be too bright. I was thinking of maybe a bluey-greenish or soft turquoise-ish sort of colour. The floor will be walnut and for the furniture (and curtains) I think I'll stick to white.

Still not sure about the colour though, it's really hard to find the right shade with a lot of colours. 'tis difficult to know what to do... Pink is easy that way, but I'm definitely going to leave that for later.

I did think of putting the new baby in the other room but the nursery is perfect as it is and I don't think I'd be able to fit the furniture into DDs new-bedroom-to-be either. I have a cunning plan. I'm going to put a 70x150 cm bed in DDs new room and leave the cot in the nursery. When DC2 needs to come out of the cot and into a 'big' bed I can move him to the smaller room and DD into a single bed in the room that's now the nursery.

I'm somewhat terrified nervous about moving DD to a bed so young but I'm not really up for buying a second cot, then a 70x150 cm bed and finally two singles.

I think bluey green or turquoise sound lovely. We've got a lovely soft pale green on my DD's walls (she's 4) and the curtains, bedspread, dolls' house etc are all either pink or have touches of pink in them. We've got flower stickarounds on the walls too.

I love it because it's really girly but not so pink that I can't bear to look at it and it blends in with the rest of the house!
