Anyone regret forking out for shutters?

Moving house and I would love shutters instead of curtains- massive bay window downstairs. I know they are so expensive but would need curtains made for this big bay window so that would cost a fortune too.
My husband really not fussed - says they will darken room and curtains will keep heat in better. Room doesn't have a lot of natural light but I think they will look fab,

Have you got the and regret or do you love them?

Our house had them when we moved in but they made the room so dark. Replaced them with thick curtains which pull back completely but also keep the heat in well at night

I love my shutters. They can be opened wide or just the slats opened. Most of the time the top ones are wide open so I could've probably have done with having shutters on just the lower half of the windows.
I have good double glazed windows so curtains wouldn't make any difference to the temperature. Though I guess they'd look nice in addition to shutters in a large room.

I have them in some rooms and not others. I like them. I have cream shutters, large veins and concealed openers.

I find they are good for keeping heat in the room in the winter. In the summer I angle the shuters and the room stays cool without being in complete darkness.

they are flexible.

They can be quite stark however - in my living room, I have shutters at the very sunny end and curtains at the north facing end. Some rooms with shutters I have a voile tied back - to soften the effect.
