Has anyone had underfloor heating put in an existing room?

I've read lots of stuff which says it is v expensive to run electric underfloor heating (and it's not very good). Anyone installed a water system? Is it worth it/effective/£££ etc. It would be for average sized downstairs room rather than a bathroom.
