Do bifold doors work on period properties? ours is a 1890s house but its more arts and crafts in style with black framed white wooden casement windows. we have plans for a kitchen extension which will open out onto the patio in the garden.

thank you

Our house is Victorian and was built on the 1880s. We have a kitchen extension with bifolds and I think it looks good. Weather not good at the mo but will post pic when it's not pouring with rain Smile

Thank you!! That looks great.

Our windows are like this though, does that make a difference at all?

I think bifolds would look lovely Grin. Lots of people on mumsnet seem to hate them (don't know why).

Marmite completely off topic - sorry OP. Can I ask what your decking is - is it "normal" decking or the composite decking (looks lovely). Also, it looks from the pic as though the decking doesn't extend across the side drive - this is exactly the position we're considering - do you step up if you enter the garden from the side?

Marmitelover55 looks great!

MrsDarcy4092 I think they totally work as long as it is a clear mix of new and old - like lovly modern light extension on beaufitul old house. Don't think they work if you are trying to make your extension 'in keeping'.

That's lovely marmite. We are going for similar extension wise for our new house, like you keeping that old and new separation. OP if you have a google image search for extension on Victorian house then there is loads of inspiration.

Thanks Smile. Sadly the decking is not composite and no longer looks as lovely as it did in the photo.

No the decking does not extend down the side path and you have to step up to it. Very happy with it general, just disappointed that the colour didn't last and the sun made it go grey very quickly.
