Hello there,

Myself, dh, and 3 children (10 ,7 ,6) are moving to Dorset in the coming months and we are between 2 areas/2 houses and would welcome any advice on either or both. We wanted to be close to Wareham as its on the train line so my dh can get to work easily in Weymouth.

House 1 - Bere Regis - lovely house but were worried that it's a bit of a nothingness village with no other families with young children. Has a school with places and is 10 minutes from Wareham.

House 2 - Corfe castle - smaller house but still nice. Seems to o be more families but the village seemed really busy and were scared that every one will be horse owning/4x4 tabatha and Sebastian types!

Please if you could offer any local info about school/types of families/lifestyle etc, we would be eternally grateful!

Bere Regis is a lovely village with shop, pub, post office etc it's got a good first school and lots of village type stuff going on. The A35 gets clogged up going to Weymouth everyday - if you are looking to avoid that, get a bit nearer... in Dorchester - Poundbury might be more lively - again good schools and much easier access to Weymouth.

Whoops - you want to go by train rather than drive ! Wareham is nice too - local shops and dentists docs etc all good ! Lots of nice places in Dorset ! ( I moved here 20 years ago !)

)))))))) Poundbury ((((((((
Only Chazza could have got permission to build those Trumpton buildings in view of Maiden Castle.

Corfe Castle is a Tourist honeypot - be willing for utter gridlock on weekends and holidays

Bere Regis is a normal town
