We're having a wet room/second bathroom installed. The builder is coming next week to give a quote, so I'm after some advice on what to do/not do/consider.
It will be in our basement bedroom which has a soil pipe.
So far we have:
-Toilet, sink and shower.
-As compact as possible.
-White sanitary ware.
-Black tiles and grouting.
-Good spotlights as we don't want to obstruct the light well into the bedroom.
-Mirrored cabinet as only storage (we have a family bathroom upstairs).

Think about ventilation, one of our bathrooms is so steamy that it needs re painting every year, also yours is in a basement
Somewhere to dry towels / radiator
What about flooring?
Windows, blinds or something else?
Light pull
Have you got taps?

Probably really obvious but if it's a wet room you want a good heated towel rail and possibly hooks for clothes/towels away from shower spray. Maybe a shelf or some kind of ledge where you can place things like a toiletries bag etc, so it won't get covered in water from the shower.

Also, will it truly be a wet room, eg with drainage in the middle of the room or will the shower area be separate?

Also, paint colour for walls?

The best extractor fan you can find (needs to vent to the outside) on a timer so that it runs for 15-20 mins after you've turned it off. There are relatively quiet ones out there. Even with this, a rad may/will provide more drying "strength" than a towel rail.

Underfloor heating?
Out bathroom has an automatic light which is good, it's on a sensor so you just walk in and it turns on.
Heated mirror with shaver points

V good points about extractor fan and heated rails.

Taps. Whoops, yes.

Would large medium grey tiles everywhere but ceiling, then white ceiling work?

I'll see what the builder says about wet room/shower cubicle. A cubicle would be better for keeping things dry, so that seems the way to go.

Underfloor heating would be nice but I doubt we have the height for that.

Can anyone recommend any sanitary ware suppliers? I'd like to get some ideas before we see the builder.

Wet room in the UK , in a basement with no underfloor heating? No way.

Shower cubicle and very good ventilation.
