Flat or bevelled metro tiles??!

I can't decide!

i can't help but think the bevelled ones are a bit too much, but then I'm not sure.

I like the thought of flat ones because I quite like plain, but then will it look boring?

I'm rambling sorry, but I'm v tired and confused about tiles!Confused

I definitely prefer flat - the bevelled ones are a bit pub toilet for me! We've used the Walls and Floors white chapel brick gloss tiles with Mapei moon white grout and they look great (if I say so myself!) Smile

Flat. Bevelled outdated now.

Yes exactly, I thought bevelled would look a bit dated and also wrong for some reason and I think it's the public toilet look you are right!

Crap, back to the shop for me. Dh and I had beveled cream ones picked out. Good job he hadn't bought them.

I disagree, but then I live in an old house which still has some of the original bevelled metro style tiles...

wow I think if something is original then the term 'dated' doesn't apply!

Original features are another thing entirely you lucky thing!

Builder told us to avoid bevelled metro tiles as difficult to get good fit at corners - could be laziness/incompetence, but...

Bevelled are a pain in the arse to dust!

We have bevelled metro tiles. White with light grey grout against solid oak worktop and they look fab imo

I went for flat with an uneven surface, but that was just personal preference. My DB lives in an Edwardian house and has bevelled metro tiles in dark green and it looks amazing, but I don't live in an old house and wasn't doing a traditional bathroom so bevelled didn't appeal to me.

I have the same as Outnumb3red. They look fab.

I have never dusted them Hmm

I prefer flat but have found that bevelled seem to come in more colours.

I only want white. I'm thinking of the cleaning of bevelled too. Especially as they will be over the hob. Plain/flat seems more sensible too no?

I've had flat tiles before my bevelled ones and can't say I've noticed a discernible difference in the cleaning of them.

I once had matt white metro tiles with a bevelled edge in a kitchen - a lot less in your face than the gloss ones.

Matt and flat!

BasinHaircut · 11/05/2016 15:28

Ohh I've just ordered gloss white!

Did wonder about Matt but thought they might also be harder to clean??

Matt and flat here too! Walls and floors Rhian tiles come in flat and Matt, they're longer than most metro tiles 300x100 mm and I love them!
