Plantation shutters with integrated black out blinds - anyone got them?

Hi. My DH is super fussy about light in the bedroom. We have a square bay window and need to find the best way of excluding as much light as possible. We are considering plantation shutters which have an integrated black out blind (honey comb thing) behind them - does anyone have them - do they exclude almost all the light?

Alternatively thinking about long curtains and pelmets....

We have these for dd's room (its a square bay and was awkward for other blinds/curtains).
It does make the room quite dark and blocks out more light than roman or venetian blinds but certainly doesn't block out all light. Curtains with blackout or thick material and a proper 'top' bit (pelmet?) and sufficient length/width might block out more.

Tbh I'd only consider PS if you were thinking about getting them anyway (dd's room is very sunny so we wanted something with slats to control glare during day).

The best blackout we've found is blackout material attached with velcro to the outer part of the window frame. Literally can't see your hand in front of your face.

That's really interesting, thank you Millionprammiles
