Wickes Kitchens - anyone successfully haggled the price down?

We've had a quote from Wickes for a new kitchen and the price is about £800 over our budget of £7000. This is including the 50% off sale price plus the additional end of sale 10% off. The sale supposedly ends today but I know the salesmen have a few days leeway with this. In addition the appliances they've quoted for are slightly cheaper than the ones we wanted.

How successful is haggling likely to be? Anyone got any success stories to tell?

We were quoted something like that and I got them down to £5250 :)

Have you tried Benchmarx (trade arm of WIckes)?
They are usually quite a bit cheaper.

We had a 70% off price and didn't manage to get anything else off. Well done George. Our kitchen guy just sat there and said 'do you know, I don't even have an option on the menu to give you anything further off.'

Clearly that was BS but they were still the best price for the nicest kitchen so we sucked it up very British. I believe we even thanked him for thinking about it

Do try Benchmarx there are lots around now.
I have had quotes from Wickes and B'marx and the WIckes quote was about 3K more for the same kitchen....

We had a quote from Wickes - every possible offer and discount applied (apparently) and it was £22k!

When we had stopped laughing, we went with Howdens for about £6K.

Shock Capitola

The Wickes quote we had was only a couple of hundred more than Howdens although for a much nicer kitchen, so it sounds like we did OK then!

Yeah I found the wickes design nicer too. They should match the Howdens price if you ask.

I waited for them to call me a week later and said I liked the design a lot but our budget was 5k so didn't think we could go forward, they then spoke to the manager and came back with 5.5k and I asked for a bit more off. Genuinely it was our budget but worked out well for us.

We got our quote down by several thousand. This was also with the half price units offer.
Wickes say at the moment that they will beat any other offer by 10%.
At the time we got ours they would match any offer. So we also got a quote from Howdens. We asked if they could bring their quote down closer to Howdens which they did.
So it is worth a go.

I was going to go with Howdens but the designer was a bit of a knob (sorry) so am going with Benchmarx, They have a proper showroom they came out to do a survey (Howdens not keen to so this), have put up with my faffing and offered several design options and do a lovely kitchen.
But much cheaper than Wickes.
