Am I likely to find a cheap plot?

With so many cheap houses on the market I wondered if I might be able to find a cheap plot somewhere. Ideally we'd like to build a home somewhere in the next year or two and have been keeping my eyes peeled for a good spot.

Doesn't seem to be many of them.

Anyone know best place to search, best website etc?

Am I kidding myself or is it quite possible that with the state of the housing market there may be a few bargain plots out there?

We don't get many plots like that around here. When they do they're unfortunately snapped up straight away. Could you afford to buy a completely run down house with great land and then knock it down and start again?

Virtually no plots around here and the few that are avaliable and those with knockable down places are bonkers prices.

I have come across a few around 50/60k but they are either just outside my search zone or too close to a busy road etc. I have a dog and he has no road sense. Ideally I'd like to be at least a few miles from any major rds. Maybe 5-10 miles from a town with leisure centre etc would be great.
Don't want much eh?! All for tenner too! Wink

I think you need to find a landowner/farmer then agree a price subject to getting planning. Then do all the getting permissions yourself. Plots with permission and that are being advertised will not be cheap. This is what we are trying to do as all advertised decent plots are £200k plus.

Plots are cheap up here in the North of Scotland. However, because of the high transportation costs at the moment, and the price of building materials and labour costs, it is now often much more expensive to build than to buy a similar house.

I did find a good size plot with foundations done and mobile home on site but it was north of Wick!
