Customising Billy bookcases

I'm getting some plain white Billy bookcases from ikea for my lounge and was wondering how easy it would be to cover the back board with a print wallpaper to coordinate them with my sofa.
Has anyone done this? Was it easy to make it look "good" rather than amateur!
Disclaimer; I have never done any wallpapering before!!!

If you cover the back board before attaching to the bookcase it will be easy and look good.

The backboards are quite flimsy and pop out after a while. They are not really designed to be on display.

Very easy - but the backs fir very snuggly - if you wrap the paper round the side you may find it hard to fit the board into the back slots. I'd just cut the paper very precisely.

BikeRun - the backboards seem to stay put if you secure them with the small panel pins.

Havent done that although it sounds a good idea. We have the doors where you add your own decoration/wallpaper/whatever. We put in all our memory stuff from the front of the fridge, IMHO it looks great in our kitchen, I appreciate if you are a minamlist type then photos, recipts, tickets etc mught be a bit scruffy.

Sounds like a good idea OP.

I have billy and I have never had the back pop off, the only time I had a back pop off was on a Pax wardrobe and it was because I rammed way too much stuff into it Blush

Just cover it and secure it with the panel pins, it will look fab. Google Ikea Hack for ideas on how people take Ikea items and use them as they were not intended.
