Neighbour problem/fly tipping

Wasn't sure whether to post here or legal so will try here first!

I have had a letter from the council about rubbish at the back of my house, needs clearing up, someone complained( one of the elderly rather nosy neighbours I think, I get on with them fine) The thing is, it's not my rubbish, they know this.

It's my next-door neighbours. She is renting her house and we already have a slight issue in that the fence her property is responsible for is in dire need of repair/replacement. Not sure where to start with either, she says she has never even met her LL but I am think I am going to have to contact him about both the problems. Don't really want a neighbour 'dispute' to have to declare as we hope to move house in the medium term future. Any help would be appreciated.

I guess your letter is from environmental health. Don't ignore it, as they can fine you, phone them and explain the situation. I had to do this for a client (on a much larger scale) and actually the EH officer was really helpful.

I should add, I am normally very capable of being assertive, but TBH she scares me a bit, we don't have a lot in common and her eldest son is in and out of prison etc

I will ring the council tomorrow too, I was going to explain the situation and ask for them to help me/guide me what to do to make her sort it out. Big chicken, I know.

Spoke to the chap from the council, sort of good news. The flytipping people have been too and they know it is next doors rubbish, not mine. I will still need to make sure neighbour sorts it out though.
