Just wondering how your house sales are going? We've now been on the market for 2 weeks and have had about 15 viewings, which I'm still very surprised about (am putting it down to the agent using a professional photographer and putting lots of pics on Rightmove), We had a second offer today, very close to the asking price (even more amazing) so are hopeful, even though some of the feedback was of the 'nice house, shame about the area' type. How are things with you both?

Hello! Well, we had five viewings I think (over about three/four weeks-so not flooding in) and then got an offer very close to asking so we accepted it. HOWEVER the houses we then tried to offer on refused to accept what we could pay and currently there is nothing much in the pipeline for us to buy. So we are still left wondering what on earth we are doing and wondering if we can back out!! Am hoping for a miracle property to appear in the next few days so here's hoping. There are a couple we are talking about but there doesn't seem enough of an incentive to buy them. Feel very lucky to have sold but did not realise we would end up with nowhere to go!
Are you going to accept your offer?

Hi bananas! Oh, very exciting - good news about your offer. Our agents have gone back to the people who made the first offer today to let them know about the second one, and I think we'll accept the one which seems most proceedable, not being in possession of a crystal ball. :) We have also offered on a property we like (have only seen two - there doesn't seem much in our area/budget at all) and it's been tentatively accepted, but dependent on our own sale of course, and we know the other house has had lots of viewings and could be snapped up by a cash buyer any time. Would you consider going into rented and waiting to pounce on the perfect property? We're considering it too, if we sell, but it wouldn't be our first choice.

Sounds exciting! No, I really really wouldn't want to rent. It would be expensive and then we might still not find anything we like and over time if the prices went up we'd be in a bad state. We haven't heard back yet from the people who said they wanted more money (our lawyer was supposedly telling them that we couldn't increase it)-not sure if they are considering it or just that the lines of communication have been broken! Would LOVE to get that place but not feeling optimistic. Still waiting for the flood of spring properties to hit the market!

I know, renting doesn't seem like a good option for us either, partly because it's so expensive and partly because we're worried, like you, that we might not find somewhere to buy within a reasonable time frame. On the other hand, it's hard to walk away from a sale too. How long has the house you like been on the market? Maybe the vendors will do some more reflecting on your offer and come back to you? No sign at all of a flood of spring properties coming on to the market in our area!

The one we like had only just gone on (we were the first viewers!) about a fortnight ago (or less) unfortunately. I think they would be happy to wait and see if they got a better offer (only thing in their way is the stamp duty barrier-we thought that would help us but apparently not).

They have said no Sad. Fed up now. Why won't someone just sell us their house??

Sorry - only just seen this! I'm jealous of your offers!! What is the latest with you guys? bananas - have you managed to find anywhere?

We had an offer the first day. Ours is up for £180K and they offered £168K, but we said we would like a bit more as it was a first offer early in the day, and they went away for a few days and worked out they couldn't actually afford £168K and would we accept £165k. No! :)

Had another viewing who liked the house but wanted to live in a village. Errm, why look round a house in a town then?!

Then had a lady who came to see it on Saturday at 9:20am - she had already seen 3 houses that morning and had another 7 to see that day! She told me she loved it, she wanted it, it was perfect etc. So we'll see what tomorrow brings. I'm not holding my breath, but fingers are crossed!!

Hiya, good luck for an offer being on its way! We are still trying to find something and are stressed to the max but hopefully soon...

Oh no - I have noticed a lot coming on the market recently, so fingers crossed for you. Where abouts are you in the country?

The lady is coming back for a second view at 6.30pm. It is between ours and another property. I've been looking/stalking the other property online so I can discreetly highlight the things our house has that the other one doesn't!

Cunning!

I'm in Scotland. Not many new ones out there yet. Have seen a place we are thinking of offering on but I am having several attacks of nerves at once. So many reasons not to move-why didn't I listen to my husband??!!

Just catching up with this. I hope you had some good news after the second viewing, Scarlet. It's such a stressful time, waiting and wondering. Have you had any luck with finding somewhere yet, bananas? We have accepted our first offer (increased slightly to counter the other offer we had) and the 'sold' sign was up when I got back from work on Monday. It's all a bit scary! We can't find anywhere either, and I'm beginning to despair. The offer on the house we like just seems to be floating in mid-air at the moment as the owner can't find anywhere to move to either (we both want to be in the same village) so hasn't either accepted or rejected us. I think we've decided to proceed with our sale, and hope that it takes a while for our buyers to do a survey etc. to buy us more time to find somewhere. Ultimately, we may have to move into rented accommodation but there isn't much around that's suitable either, and it's so expensive.

It's a horrible feeling not having anywhere to go to isn't it? Who would have thought that selling would be so much easier than buying?
We can't find anything-the only things in our price range don't offer enough of a reason to move!
Still hoping the people who wouldn't accept our offer will come back to us! Would it be absurd to email the agent agent and ask if they are sure that they're sure??!!

We're still in limbo too. The lady who came for a 2nd viewing loves ours but also loves the other property and can't make her mind up. She is buying it with her brother, and he has just left it to her to decide but as she can't he is going to come up from London to view both properties and help her choose! From the internet apparently he likes ours best. He isn't sure when he can make it up from London though. We live in North Yorkshire. This inbetween stage is torture isn't it?

Oh my God!!! We have had an offer accepted but they are leaving it on the market until we wrap up mortgage/survey/missives. Can't deal with the stress-about to keel over!

Well great news on the offer - why are they keeping it on the market? Stress!! Do you really like this one then?

That lady I mentioned above said she really wants ours and will be putting an offer in today, but she hasn't yet and I just want her to get on with it!!! This house moving lark is bad for the nerves!

We do really like this one-but I guess they want to make sure we can buy it?! Wish we could convince them fast as of course now I am worried someone else will swan along who can offer more/move quicker!
It is rotten waiting for that phone call isn't it? Hope you hear soon. I will be needing therapy shortly.
