How on earth will I drain Dishes with this combo?

an ikea domsjo single sink and wood worktops.... Love the look and really want it but how does washing dishes work? No dishwasher here either.... Do I go for laminate?

would laminate work with that sink? I know with belfast sinks etc you have to have ganite/quartz or wood.

You get a draining board from Lakeland that sits on the wooden worktop and drains into the sink. Laminate won't work if you need to keep the sink

Ikea does a black quartz top and you can get a slab that goes next to the sink with drainage 'lines' already built in so you only need a rack to go on top if you know what I mean... That's what my kitchen has anyway and I know it's an Ikea kitchen (though we didn't design or install it, previous owners did)!

The "chute" underneath swivels to send the water in any direction you want. Expensive dishrack but cheaper than new worktops!

The Ikea domsjo sink sits above the worktop so drainer grooves won't work, but it could be used with a laminate worktop because it's designed to hide the cut edges. We are having the same in our new kitchen but I've hedged my bets and gone for the double version and a dishwasher .

I second fossil97. My friend has this sink and it looks great - it goes right to the back of the unit so you don't get wet drips all over the area of worksurface by the tap. The work surface just butts up to it on each side too so you're not paying for a length of worksurface to have a large hole cut in it!

Sorry - doesn't help your drainer conundrum but...

I've been looking at Getalit laminate surfaces which do some good surface textures. I've been looking for a concrete / slate type look to have with this sink but they might have goos wood ones too.
