Granny annexe. Anyone got one?

We've found a house that we like that has an annexe with two beds, kitchen, bathroom and living room - a really decent size. We're not at the point where granny needs to come and live there (although maybe mot so far off as she had a fall yesterday...) so we were wondering how we might use that space until that time comes, by which time the market may have turned and we wouldn't be able to afford a place with one. We don't employ a nanny or anything. DCs are still in early primary education.

Anyone else got one that Granny doesn't use? What do you do with it?

Use it for teenagers? Rent it out?

We are thinking of buying a place with a granny annexe. Initially because we are thinking of getting an au pair whilst my youngest is only at pre-school, and after that either for visitors to stay in or for my eldest (soon to be teenager) to live in that section.

I supposed if you don't need the space initially you could use it as a games room/cinema something along those lines.
