Had my dd parents evening last week was really shocked with the teachers attitude. My dd has always really liked school and seemed to be getting on fine.
We sat down with the teacher and the first thing she said was well dd is average with reading and writing (level 2b) and below average for math (2c), and then went on to say I gave dd the good report but she really does need to improve her writing if she is going to get any where near a (2a). I tried to ask what we should do to help her but didnt really get a answer, just said she will improve with time. Also she was quite negative about the Junior school she and most of her friend are going to next year.
I was rather shocked about the teachers attitude I didnt really know what to say. I thought I 2b now was pretty good as she is might be able to get up to a 2a by the end of the year.
It all just seems so sad that they are so hung up on levels etc.
I spoke to the teacher this morning and said, I felt she was negative. She said she was sorry and that she had been very tired, but she wasnt nagative to the children Should I do anything else? My dd is only 6, 7 in may.

She also said to me that the teacher last year over predicted dd results for this year. I dont really care about levels etc just worried by her attitude.

Oh dear, it sounds like your dd's teacher is stressing too much about Sats, and that your dd is doing very well.

My dd2 is also in Y2, and although I do think that her teacher is worried about sats because she is quite inexperienced, she is not cracking under the pressure. Perhaps that is because my dc go to an all through primary, so KS2 sats are mainly used to judge the school.
