Hi,

Ds is 5yrs old and in Year1 MS at present, not coping at all as to overwelming for ds even though has support etc its just to cramped, noisey and ds shuts down or goes into overload and cries etc

ds has passed entrance exam for an Ind school (though only scored average) and I am pleased as punch with this

But their is another Ind school that doesnt even do entrance test that will take ds

The reason for moving ds is smaller class size re:sensory overload cant learn in class of 30+ in current MS class.....so not in it for best grades etc...

I am worried ds could slip back in grades and worried first school may then chuck ds out in years to come. Both school seem honestly interested in ds and both school I really like!

Any advice?

personally I'd go with the one which didn't test as it doesn't sound like your ds deals well with pressure (even though he managed to pass the exam)

I'd have thought that a school which asks 5 year olds to take an exam is not one with a particularly sharing, caring, fluffy ethos

However, my big concern would be the fact that he's currently getting support - would he still need support in the independent primary or are you banking on him not needing it because of smaller class sizes? If he still needs support, who'd pay for it? Does he have a statement? and have you checked how much experience either school really has with children like your ds

Do you have a good picture of your ds's needs, strengths and areas of difficulty, as simply putting him in a smaller class may not be a panacaea
