DS1 has been pushed about at school about this week but I'm a rubbish mother and messed up this morning

I've just taken DS1 to school and now I feel awful.

We've had an awful morning - yelling, fighting, hitting since 7.00... DS1 is never usually like this but this week at school (he's in reception) he's had 1 girl kick him over (literally) in the playground where no teacher saw (other children did so I've heard the same version of this story 3 times). Then yesterday another girl pushed a girl in the playground and blamed it on him. He's obviously upset and taking out his frustration on DS2 and me but this morning I didn't handle it very well and now I'm not going to see him till 3.30 and I feel awful.

If he's having a rough time at school I should be making things better for him but this morning I've just made it worse.

DH home tonight thank god.

Most of us have done something similar.

Most of us have felt horribly guilty all day.

Most of our children look at us completely blankly when we apologise to them after school.

Most of us then realise that our dc's are tougher than we think.

Don't worry, it's the joy of being a Mum. A bad Mum wouldn't feel bad about it, so you are not rubbish.

Thanks. I need to get a grip for DS2's sake. I appreciate your kind words.

Exactly cat

I've done things before and worried all day, then said sorry and got the blank look at 3.30!

99% chance he won't remember a thing about it by 3:30pm (or even 9:30am, come to that)

..focus on having a nice weekend.

Will do! Thanks.

He's asked me to have a word with one of the girl's mums but I feel a bit awkward. Maybe I'll mention it to the teacher - it's Parents Evening soon.

Thank god it's Friday Thank god for MN

Go to the teacher, not the mother, definitely.
