Y1 synthetic phonics help needed, very confused!

OK, we've just relocated this last month and DD has gone into a new school, Y1. She's been doing jolly phonics at her old school (curly c, kicking k, that stuff). And she's just this last month 'clicked' with reading, so it's going well. However I got a phone call from her new teacher saying she has to do some extra work (worksheets and a pack of flashcards) to catch up (fair enough) as they're using a different scheme, called I think synthetic phonics (???, involves weird orders to do 'Fred talk' on words and a lot of pictures/"rhymes" like 'go up the insect' for C). I can't go into the school for the moment because of an accident, and all the teacher said on the phone was that this scheme had been on the TV recently. Result of life being a wee bit hectic is that I don't actually watch that much telly these days, so second result is I can't understand the worksheets!
Any pointers? What is this scheme called? Is it just jolly phonics with pretty pictures?

Ruth Miskin, "Read Write Inc"

You can watch the videos. If you daughter has done Jolly phonics properly she will have no problems changing to Ruth Miskin. Both are Synthetic phonics schemes. Prehaps Jolly phonics is more small child friendly, however an older child will not appreciate Inky the Mouse. I believe Ruth Miskin is better for the older child

If you want to get a set of books quickly the Book People have a Ruth Miskin set for about a tenner to start you off!

Good luck!

Many thanks to both of you - good to know it was the C4 programme I meant to watch but was too busy moving house on that day to do so! I've now gone and ordered the set of books from The Book People, so fingers crossed.
