Advice re 5 year old needing attention

I would be really grateful for some advice about the sort of strategies anyone could suggest here. My 5 year old ds constantly needs attention at the moment and so is continuously asking his teacher questions, even while they are busy helping others. He had some very difficult experiences last year at a different school, and he is extremely anxious that something similar with happen again and has wound himself into a panic, and seems to only be reassured while actually in the moment of being reassured. The teacher is aware of the background but has 26 pupils so cannot provide constant reassurance... Any ideas would be welcome!

Maybe a little soft toy that lives in his trouser pocket that when he feels anxious he can pop his hand in his pocket to reassure himself.
Look up transitional object

Thank you - we do that and we are doing a lot of things at home, on weekends, talking, to try to disperse the anxiety, and I am sure over time it will. I think that the teacher is needing some strategy ideas now though if possible!

And, by the way, the transitional object is in fact a ticket for something we did in the summer which he loved, which reminds him of happy times, and it is in his bag. The teacher is not supportive of cuddlies being held by pupils!
