Admission Dates/Terms Confused!

Hello!

I'm aware how silly I may sound. But do you ever just wonder something then the more you look into it the more it confuses you and the more it irritates you? Lol! Confused

I have two boys.
L was born November 24th 2012
D was born November 20th 2013.

The advice from our local council is we can start L anything after his fourth birthday up until the term after his 5th birthday.... Do they mean September term or January after the Xmas break? Or is there a chance I could get them both into the same class? (L being one of the oldest and D being one of the youngest?) totally confused!

Any help would be great!
Thank you!

The latest either could start is the January of the year they are due to start so no they couldn't be in the same year.

Generally they would start in the September but you could postpone til the January,

In England, a child is eligible to start school in the September when they are 4 and must be in full time education from the term after their 5th birthday.

So L can start this September, or you can wait until he is compulsory school age and start him in January 2017.

D becomes eligible in September 2017, and must start by January 2018.

L is the same age as my younger DD. He would normally start in reception in September 2017. D will be due to start reception Sept 2018.

You have the option with both to accept a place but delay their start dates until the January following their fifth birthdays (jan 2018 and jan 2019 respectively) but most people start their kids in the September at the start of the school year.

So one starts September 2017 and one starts September 2018!
