Hello,

We are planning to move to West Ewell soon and I don't know much about the area, so looking for so advice with the primary schools. Could anyone please tell me if there is much difference between West Ewell Infant school and Ewell Grove School? The house prices seem higher near Ewell Grove, but I don't know if that's just because they're nearer the station, or the school is a factor as well.

Any opinions much appreciated, thank you!!!

Em x

They are both good schools. Both are infants only so you would need to go elsewhere at the end of yr2 - danetree is an obvious choice but having kids at 2 sites would be a pain. Ewell Grove admits 70 a year and west ewell 120, so they are quite different in size.

Housing prices will reflect proximity to the station as well as shopping etc: ewell grove is easily walkable into Ewell itself. High school distances will play a part in the prices too - Ewell grove is nearer to Glyn (excellent boys) and Blenheim (very good mixed) and probably just about in reach of rosebery (excellent girls) which West Ewell won't be. The high school near west Ewell is the least in demand of the high schools in Epsom/Ewell.

Ewell Grove, West Ewell and Danetree are set to become all-through Primary schools, with Danetree due (planning permission I think has not yet been granted) to take a reception and Y3 intake in 2016 and thereafter only a reception intake. Ewell Grove will be dropping to 60 each year, West Ewell 60 and Danetree (I think) 90 or 120. If this goes ahead it means that all previous years of maximum distance accepted to schools will not necessarily be a very good guide of where you will get in. Current Y1 children at West Ewell and Ewell Grove will stay until high school.

I visited both West Ewell and Ewell Grove last year before making our decision, and while both are Outstanding Ofsted rated there is quite a different feel between the two - so worth a visit to both. Their catchment areas are quite different too. I can't comment on Danetree but would definitely be worth a visit.
