Criteria 5 and criteria 6

We are moving dd1 to a school near our office (25 mins from current house) and hoping to move near the school when our bastard house sells. Dd2 is due to start school in sept 2016 so her application will be jam 2016.

The school is normally full to slightly over subscribed. In dd1's soon to be class 6 were criteria 6 (out of catchment no siblings) at admission. If we haven't moved by dd2's application then she will be criteria 5 (sibling at school but out of catchment) but a lot further away than the criteria 6 applicants (max 6km in dd1's year). Does this still count as criteria 5 and therefore still trump the nearer criteria 6?

Thanks in advance I am definitely not totally over stressed and anxious about the aforementioned bastard house

Yes. Within each criteria children are ranked by distance, but the bands stay together.

Otherwise there'd be a good chance the LAC in criteria 1 but living three miles down the road wouldn't get in.

Best of luck with your house sale and application.

Thank you! Seems slightly bonkers we'd trump someone applying 3 miles away when we're 13 miles away but definitely reduces our house move risk!
