Iff your child comes home from school with a leaflet about STUDENT SUPPORT CENTREPLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING WITH IT READ ALL THE REVIEWS FIRST!!!!!!!!! BELEIVE ME THERE ARE PLENTY OF THEM TO READ GOING BACK YEARSTRUST ME ON THIS ONE ,I WISH I HAD READ THEM FIRST!!!Ask yourself why does the SCHOOL send out leaflets about further education when its supposed to be THEIR job to help your child iff he or she is struggling!! What are they getting out of it? I BET ITS NOT SLEEPLESS NIGHTS LIKE I AM!! LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP!!!
Once you have these goods you only have a very short time to return them after which its TOO LATE and they will not help you!!

You need to be a bit clearer about what the problem is.

Is it good or bad?

Most schools get asked to circulate literature on behalf of organisations. It doesnt mean they endorse it.

I dont know who or what this organisation is.

I believe (i.e. I'm not 100 percent certain) that The Student Support Centre offers financial incentive to schools to send out these leaflets on their behalf.

Have had several over the years - didn't take much interest so can't comment on the educational value of their wares.

We get them, we have every year since the eldest started school.

I did a bit of research first time round and decided we didn't want to go down that road.

I send it back every time saying not interested. What's the problem?

I think the problem is that, at my DCs school, they come with a letter from the Headteacher which makes it look like the school is recommending them.

When I first got a letter I searched on here and there are a few old theads which warn people off as well.

IIRC they also chase you if you don't send bcak the slip which I'm sure is just an attempt to get names and addresses on their database - I think the bin is probably the best place for these letters.

The problem is it costs anywhere between £1000 and £4000 approx and once in you cant get out of it.I am going to try my hardest to get a refund but I think its going to be a very long and stressful journey. Its very hard sell and i was taken in by it!Simple as.

Caughtinanet, I searched on it first as well.

I've always sent the slips back (I get it x3 now I have three children), and they have never tried further contact.

If they're charging those prices no wonder they can offer financial incentive to the school to dish the things out!
