I'm going to have a small boast...

DS1 who is unconfident and not the highest achiever at school (ahem) was in his school leavers play today (he is in yr 6).

We knew he had a part (had rehearsed lines endlessly) but we didn't realise it was one of only about 12 speaking roles (60 in the year).

Last year he would have hated to do it and in fact wouldn't have auditioned. In the yr 5 Christmas show he sat at the edge looking miserable.

This year tho he not only got a role but he performed it so well. He was a posh english squirrel with some tricky lines (his speech is not always cut-glass!) but he was soooo fab, we were really proud.

That's it really. But I just wanted to sing DS1's praises because nobody ever seems to (he is a bit overshadowed by his younger siblings who both do much better at school).

And much of this is btw down to his fantastic yr 6 teacher. I very much doubt if he is a MN-er but in the unlikely event that he is, hello and thank you!

Well done to your DS. It takes a lot of confidence to do that. I bet he really enjoyed it.

Aww thanks all.
We were so proud and people were commenting to me this pm at the leavers' barbecue.

Bless him, maybe he has turned a corner
