Does anyone have any thoughts on Stillness School in Honor Oak Park? Thinking of moving there. Good Ofsted report. But that's not everything....

Hi there

There was a similar post about this a couple of weeks ago (with positive feedback as I recall) - if you do a search for 'stillness', it should come up.

My neighbour's oldest goes to the nursery there, and she is very positive about it.

Best wishes from Forest Hill

I'd go and visit before you commit yourself; Stillness Juniors isn't really my cup of tea but it very much depends upon what you're after...

Thanks both! SE13Mummy, when you say it isn't your cup of tea, what do you mean? Too academic focused?

...and sydenhamhiller, how do you find Forest Hill? Someone was praising it to me the other day. horniman museum there... is it kid friendly, nice shops? Think I will plan a visit there soon. Been to Honor Oak a few times. DH wants to be near green spaces. What do you think of Eliot Bank school... just had a great ofsted. But I imagine a house near there would cost a bomb...

I visited with a view to applying for a job at the Juniors but chose not to after visiting. My concern was that it was rather 'corporate' e.g. display boards all with two borders in the school colours rather than colours chosen to bring out the children's work was one thing that stood out. From a teaching point-of-view I felt that the Head had a particular way of doing things that might be rather more controlling than I would like and that her style might give rise to situations whereby if you're liked then everything's fine but if you're not then it's not a happy place to work.
