Up until now dd gets the odd bit of pocket money from my Grandad and other than that if she's going to youth club I give her a pound for sweets. She'll be starting secondary school in September though so I think it might be a good time to start a more regular pocket money set-up.
So how much pocket money do you give your 11/12 year old? And are there any conditions attached about what they use it for?
Dd has also just got a phone which I will be getting a sim card for this week, I think its probably going to be around £10 per month for that.
My thoughts at the moment are, I pay for her sim, set up a bank account and put £10 per month into that plus give her another £2.50 per week cash. So around £5 per week pocket money plus mobile minutes/texts. How does that sound?
I'm thinking the £2.50 could be spent on youth club and any sweets she wants to buy herself, and the money in her bank could be used for bigger spends, such as a trip to the cinema, or saved.
