Books about friendships

Dd1 is having a few problems at school with being left out and is struggling with friendships. I want to get her a book but I have just googled and most of them seem either American, very religious of both. Can anyone reccommend one they have used that was nice to read, not too complicated and that helped them and their dd. Also a puberty one while you're at it! Thanks

The Terry Pratchett's books about Tiffany Aching especially "I Shall Wear Midnight" might fit well. Tiffany's age profile sounds about right and the writing is good. If your dd likes it there is one more to come and it can lead into discworld.

dd 12 suggests a fiction book called My Best Friend and Other Enemies for a light fun read.
