so d is 8.5 and after reading all the stuff on puberty looks like she his heading for early periods ! which is annoying as i myself was 14 so seems a little unfair . do you think a trip to the doctor could be helpful for both of us and a chat to her new school as she has just started middle schl . im only 1.64 in height and although is she tall at the moment if all that i have read she will almost stop growing after her 1st period which appear to be 6-12mts away following the need for panty liners ! I think i would be just in asking for it to be slowed done read somewhere about injections
so let me know your views

what signs is she having? 8.5y is not counted as particularly early puberty so I dont think they would give anything to slow it down. Has she started her periods?

My dd started getting breast buds around the age of 9 and has now got pubic hair and is nearly 11 now. She hasnt yet started her periods.

They dont stop growing for 1-2 years after their periods start

Some girls keep growing for a while after their periods - some for several years. Its not unusual for girls to keep growing until they are 18y. It's not always a given that they will stop shortly afterwards.

Wahat development signs is she showing at the moment?

Whilst 8y is on the younger side for puberty it isn't outside the normal range iirr.

thanks for the replies not sure if Meant to message to respond so bare with me im new to mn . the reason i feared the stop growing part of puberty and periods is because me and mys sisters did that ! 5.4 & 5.2 respectively is pretty sml . so to answer we have had breast buds and there is faint PH
along with the pant thing and hard to say about moods could be new school but also very tearful and out of character .back in mar when we 1st had the pant thing we went to doctors and were brushed off with its hormonal and normal ! but who else has had to buy panty liners for there 8.5 ?

cheers x

Bit of discharge is normal. How much is she getting that you need to get her pant liners? If she's soaking Knicks that is odd. But a bit is fine.
You need to get to 7st and tanner stage 2 breast development as. Rule of thumb ( that's not sticking out nipples/areola it is someproper breast tissue) .
She sounds very average for age really.
Don't medicalise normality if you can help it. If you and female rels are small she's going to be small too on average.
My Dds are just over 5 foot. It's a normal height.
Interesting the youngest might still have grown a bit 4 yrs post menarche.

Ds was the same at around that age. She is 11 on Wednesday and still no actual periods though.
There is a long way to go between breast buds and the initial changes and periods. 8.5 would be considered entirely normal for the changes she is having right now.
