I am a novice looking at nurseries in Cardiff for my 10 month old and am overwhelmed with options. Does anyone out there have any advice regarding ones to consider and those to avoid. Thanks

Hi Georgemom, Acorns nurseries were good for us. There's a few of them around, though not cheap, but lovely. DS was very happy there.

georgemom - where in Cardiff are you?

Toad Hall in Whitchurch is really good, as is the nursery at the David Lloyd centre (Roath-ish) - friends have sent their children to both and have been happy with them.

A friend of mine took hers out of Acorns as it was too big, and a bit impersonal.

I can also let you know about all the nurseries in Penarth (where I live) too if you want.

I am a Nusery Nuse doing supply work at the moment ( I used to work full time in a nusery until it closed). I have ben to several Nuseries around Cardiff and one I would particulary recomend is Lilliput Day Nusery the staff are all very friendly and the children are happy. my friends daughte attend this nursery and she is very happy with it. The nusery is in the Heath area near the flyover. In the groungds of the goverment buildings.
UI wouldn't recommend Acorns they have a high turnover of staff and someone I know who used to work there said they didn't look after staff very well. So if you hace ubhappy staff this will effect the way the children are loked after.

Both my boys went to Acorns ..one in Roath and Park Grove, new baby starting in Babies. I can only highly recommend as I found the staff to be so kind and caring ... Still visit in the holidays ! Have such a low staff turnover... was so impressed same nursery staff who looked after my eldest who is now a teenager will be looking after baby no 3 !! A little more expensive than other nurseries we have seen ..my babies only have the best and from experience Acorns are by far the very best ! Warm, homely atmosphere with staff who really care. Will make going back to work much easier knowing she will have the best care ??
