Since dd started pre school in September she has been off quite a bit with one virus or another. She was off all last week with a virus and temperature, I thought she was coming down with chicken pox as ds has it atm. She went back in on Monday feeling fine then on Tuesday I noticed a few spots on her waist and thought it may be the start of chicken pox, she also has a hacking cough and on and off temperature again. Her spots haven't blistered though and if anything have gone smaller so it's either the same virus as last week or a new virus so she's off again! I'm concerned that she's having so much time off but the school can't really say anything at this stage can they? I mean I can't get in trouble can I? At least if she builds up her immune system this year by getting all the bugs under the sun i'm hoping it will stand her in good stead for when she starts reception in September.

I dont think it matters with re-school, my dts pre-school tel us to keep them off even if they are just tired.

No don't worry at all. You are right, she is getting a lot of things now, which is horrid for now, but the positive side is that she is building up her immunity and might not have to have any time off in reception (though don't bet on it! - kids tend to pick up a lot in reception too!)

Until she is 5, there is no compulsion to attend full-time education so there can be no comeback if she is absent a lot from pre-school.

Thank you! I know the minute she gets over this virus she'll get her brother's bloody pox! Grrr

My playgroup are fine as long as you phone and let them know they are not coming in, seems obvious to me but some people don't phone!

She will - almost definitely - but then you will have that out of the way for when it sweeps through reception next year!

I an so glad I am not the only one who worries about this!!! I asked about this same subject before xmas! DS had very bad croupe and was off for 4 weeks before xmas (it took 3 weeks and 3 gps to finally get the diagnosis ) Now hes off this week with this awful diarrhea bug that is going round!! Plus a few odd days here and there from sniffles and me being ill!!!
