Hair braids

Ds has started a nursery - he's just turned four. It's an independent school. He had an orange hair braid put it on holiday - quite long. I mentioned to the teacher whether it's ok and she said it's fine for this week but to take it off next week. My son's really upset that I have said we have to take it out now - especially as his sisters have them.

Is it a bit mean? Or reasonable? Reality check please. Thank you.

Surely they should all take them off then ???
