39 wks - leaky boobs - is labour imminent?

Hi all,

Just a quick question - I think I'm clutching at straws though!

I'm 39+2 with my 1st baby and for the first time last night I had a leak from my right boob - this left a mark on my pyjama top.

Could this be a sign that labour is imminent??

With dd1 I started leaking around 20 weeks and never went into spontaneous labour, so I'm going to say no.

Mine started at 26 weeks, and didn't go into labour until 34 weeks, so probably not a sign that labour is imminent.

I've had one or two leaks -- one yesterday (38+5), one several weeks ago. There are threads on here with women who have leaked from 18 weeks, so it's not necessarily a sign your baby is about to arrive!

Hi JBroRo - just noticed we are due on the same day and thought I'd say hi!
My boobs aren't leaky but have certainly changed over the last week - a bit more 'nipply' if YKWIM! Everything seems to be changing - baby very low and I'm exausted...how are you doing generally?
Anyway, not long now!!! HannyMonster.x

Hiya HannyMonster,

Nice to hear from you. Know what you mean about the 'nipply' thing!

Is this your first baby?

I know it's impossible to tell really but I'm convinced that Im going to be overdue. I think it's because I really don't want to be induced so am subconsciously trying to prepare myself for it, just in case. Does that make sense?!

I don't think I've had any real signs of labour starting yet. Though I have been sick a few times and seem to need to poo a lot more (sorry if TMI)! Have you had any Braxton Hicks?

I'm nearly 38 weeks and not had a leak (yet!). It's just your body preparing for motherhood. Don't worry! You'll drop the sprog when the time is right. Wishing I would go soon, fed up in this heat...

OMG JBroRo - we are having a very similar time! Yes, it's my first baby so feel like I'm venturing into the unknown right now.
I too am convinced I'll go over, possibly just trying to offset my mothers 'he could arrive any second' instinct, but so many people are late with their first it seems to make sense to expect a whole lot of nothing for the next week or so.
My digestive system is a mess - although to be fair it's been pretty awful throughout the pregnancy. Def going to the loo more and was sick in the night last week so the hormones are on the move I suppose. Seem to be getting more Braxton Hicks, especially when I walk for longer than a minute or so (although this is a rare event these days!) and also getting lots of niggly low pains that make me sooooo uncomfortable, particularly in the evenings. Oh gosh, it's a joy isn't it! Ha ha.

I was leaking from 22 weeks, so not sure it means anything I'm afraid

I don't think I've had any Braxton Hicks - I'm not entirely sure what they're supposed to feel like though?

It does seem like 1st babies are always late! 3 of my friends who given birth in the last 12-24 months have gone 2 weeks over and had to be induced. I so don't want this to happen but que sera and all that. Having said that another friend was a week early.

Keep me posted, Hanny, on how you're getting on. It's nice to chat to someone at the same point.

For me Braxton Hicks are like a sudden tightening of the bump - as if I'm pulling in my tummy (but obviously I have no actual ability to do this) - it just goes sort of hard and then starts relaxing again straight away - I have quite a tight bump anyway so didn't realise it wasn't the baby at first, but am noticing it more now.
Agree that we must keep each other posted - lets hope we don't both have to wait another 2 weeks.
