Mumps - Help!

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me? My DP diagnosed with mumps this morning and signed off work for the week (obviously it's contagious). I have had MMR jab, but still worried as am 15 weeks pregnant (right in the risky 12 - 16 weeks stage for miscarriage if you contract mumps). Also heard nightmare stories about babies being born deaf, though I think these are unsubstantiated by medical experts.

Do people think I should move to my mum's for the week instead of staying with DP to lower my risk? Or is the fact I've had my MMR lower risk enough to stay with him?

Thanks

Dear Planner. When I was pregnant with DS2 the docs thought I had mumps. I didn't but fortunately mumps cannot be passed to your unborn baby and won't affect it in any way. Measles on the other hand is the one that can be dangerous for pregnant ladies.

Don't panic you can stay with DP Then again you might fancy a week at your mums

I'd ask the doctor what they recommend. A week at your mum's might be quite nice and get you away from your DP's potential moaning !
