Anyone else not felt movement at 19 wks?

Hi all,

Just after a bit of reassurance I suppose. Everyone keeps asking me If I have felt the baby move I haven't yet.

I'm 19 weeks tomorrow. I thought I read that this was normal, but have just seen an earlier thread with many posters feeling kicks etc much earlier.

I'd love to hear from anyone who didn't feel anything until later on. I understand that it may depend on your placenta position etc, but people asking me are driving me mad!

Thanks

I didn't feel ds3 until 19/20 weeks, even though I felt ds1 @ about 16 weeks and ds2 even earlier than that. I later found out I had an anterior placenta with ds3 and it acts as cushion so I couldn't feel it.
If you have a scan due you will usually find out if your placenta is anterior.

I am 18 weeks and have felt nothing yet....I read it is between 18-21 weeks so you still have a few weeks before you would be outside the normal range.....

I was 20+ weeks with dd1 and dd2 - had hoped to feel dd2 earlier but no such luck! Anterior placenta bith times which is probably something to do with it.

Hope you feel reassured!

Hi - yes it really does depend alot on where the placenta is. I am at 17.5 weeks with dc3 and although I think I feel the baby sometimes, if I was on the first I would probably not notice it.

With dc1 I didn't feel him til just before my 20 wk scan and had an anterior placenta (ie at the front)

But with dc2 I could feel him at 11 weeks - posterior placenta (at the back)

Hope that helps!

I was concerned myself as I had read alot on here about feeling movements earlier with 2nd. I didn't start feeling my little bump move until thursday last week and I was just 19 weeks to the day. Didn't feel much after, but went for 20 week scan this morning and it was moving like mad while the sonographer was trying to measure and I felt it move. Have also felt a few movements since I have come back.
When is your scan?
My placenta was in normal position so that wasn't the cause of me not feeling movements earlier.

By normal I meant posterior but couldn't remember the word sorry. I don't think it is abnormal to have an anterior sorry.

Thanks all. Scan next week so perhaps they can tell me where my placenta is, as well as checking everything is alright.

I'm 18+2 with Dc2 and not really felt anything yet. Occassionally I'll 'feel' something but inevitably it's shortly followed by a burp or fart!

It's so worrying this pregnancy lark, isn't it? You get to 12wks and think you can relax but there's always something to worry about.

I didn't feel anything till 22 weeks - also had an anterior placenta. 30 weeks now and the bump is very lively!

My midwife said not to expect anything until 20 weeks, particularly if its your first.

Have had a couple of times when I thought : oooh! what was that?

But nothing significant. Feel like I am in pregnancy no mans land - have got this huge bump but nothing going on!

I actually didn't know I was pregnant until 22 weeks and hadn't felt anything - so don't panic. I'm now 25 weeks and feel him all the time.

I have an anterior (but not low) placenta. I have only JUST started feeling the odd movement (like a bubble popping against me) this week - I am 24 weeks.

(I have posted about 4 times in a complete panic over the last few weeks - like you, people have said "are you feeling it?" since 16 weeks! I was convinced something was wrong!)

I had a GP appointment this morning actually and she was v reassuring. She said that as its my first and I have an anterior placenta, I can expect not to feel regular, monitorable movements until up to 28/30 weeks!

Ignore me, I checked my scan notes and apparently I do have an anterior placenta, I really should pay more attention sorry

Im 26 weeks tomorrow with triplets and I never felt any of them until approx 3 weeks ago.

A lot depends on how many pregnancies you have had (if this is your 2nd child etc you feel them much earlier)and where the placenta is laying. You may have had some feelings already that you associated with wind maybe.

But don't worry you will still feeling the little sausage soon :0 xx

That is the one question I hate when pregnant, nothing else makes you feel even more paranoid then you could already be! With my 2 I don't remember feeling anything for a long time, way past what everyone seemed to think was normal (and by everyone I mean people at work and random people in the street). I was really impatient to feel movement as you then stop feeling so concerned that something is going on you don't know about. It will come and it will be worth the wait

Hi, I've had my 20 week scan today and have suspected an anterior placenta as I didn't feel movement till almost 17 weeks (much later than my other two) and I have a 'blind spot' on my tummy where I've seen the baby move and felt nothing!
Todays scan confirmed the placenta is exactly where I thought it was, so may be the case for you too!

I had an anterior placenta with DS1 and didn't feel proper movement til about 19 weeks or so - when I did, it was to the sides of my bump.

Am now 22 weeks pg with DS2 and felt movement a lot sooner - by about 16/17 weeks, but it was all at the front of my bump - it feels weird to be kicked behind my belly button as I didn't get it last time round!
