Pregnancy

6 weeks, bleeding and told to rest - does it really matter?

Am 6+5 (although internal scan on Fri found only yolk sac so sonographer thinks I conceived later and am not really as far on as that).

Am also bleeding on and off - mostly brown, but a touch of red last night which scared the bejesus out of me (I mc'd on Jan 1 so have v little confidence at the moment).

Phoned EPU this morning to report the bleeding, and they said they'd scan me end of next week, and in the meantime I am to rest. They do not even advise pushing a pram.

DS is 2.6, is at nursery, and so's his pram. I can drive and bring the pram home in the boot, I suppose, but if I'm house and car-bound for the next week and a half unnecessarily I'm going to go mad. How much difference can rest make? Does going to the supermarket count as activity? We're out of food!

Don't want to jeopardise this baby, I will be devastated beyond words if I lose two in three months. Just don't want to fuel my existing paranoia more than I need to.

sorry you are going through this frazzled

tbh i was advised to rest with my 1st mc (before being diagnosed) but was later told that it would not make any difference.

if you are going to mc it will happen regardless.

of course, there is every chance you are not mc-ing.

if i was you i would rest as much as possible but i you feel up to doing some bits and pieces, go for it. can you do food shopping on-line?

take care of yourself, sure you will be fine!

xx

I took to my beed when I experienced bleeding, but was later told it would make no differnce if I rested or not to the outcome of the pg.

(Oh, and depite lots of bleeding when pg, I now have a very annoying 6yo!) Goodluck!

Thanks to you both.

I bled with DS too, at exactly the same stage, so trying not to flip out. Problem is that the last pg I had did end in mc so the bad outcome is uppermost in my mind ATM.

Will keep it simple, nip round to corner shop and order the big stuff online.

Stillfrazzled. Sorry to hear you are still bleeding. I have bled with all my pregnancies. I have had a couple of miscarriages, have one DD and am pregnant at the moment. In all cases I took to rest as I felt it was the best thing to do, that being said with this one although I was trying to rest I was still running around after my daughter!

The way I looked at it, at least if I rested and then something happened I would not be able to blame myself.

I hope things work out for you.

Thanks ASP. I know what you mean - my 'rest' y'day included hauling my son about, cooking, doing the washing, tidying up...

Bleeding seems to be basically the odd discoloured wipe today, so think I may risk a walk. Apart from anything else, my back is killing me because of the lack of exercise - if I don't move soon I won't be able to!

CAD, sorry to hear you're in this boat too. Are you going to be rescanned? So take it they haven't seen a HB yet?

It's awful, isn't it? To really not know if you're pg or not

I bleed brown blood when preg with DS, he's now 20 months. However try and take this time to rest as much as you can, if everything goes to plan you're going to be knackered enough in the coming months!

Got call from EPU today - scan has been moved from Friday to Weds morning, e.g. day after tomorrow!

Should be chuffed but am weirdly frightened, is that much closer to finding out if everything's OK or if it's all over.

Just wanted to give you some encouragement.

I am currently 35+2 with DC2. Had 2 very early miscarriages whilst ttc this one, each time bleeding very close to time AF was due.

Anyway, with this one, I got a positive pg test around cd26, then the following day started bleeding, light but red blood, so presumed the worst and thought it was another early mc. Anyway, bleeding lasted about 24 hours or so then stopped. I did another pg test a day or two later and got a stronger positive! I didn't want to believe that it was actually happening for several weeks and was convinced that I wouls start bleding at any second, put the bean hung on in there and and, as I said, is due in four weeks!

Was just wanting to give you a little ray of hope!

they said at the last scan they would rescan mon or tues to see if anythings grown. im giving up hope now.... or maybe no news is good news?

Hi just quick update!! feel bad now for slagging off the EP unit!! they just phoned me back with the rewsults of my BTests.

She said that my hormone level has gone up so im realy glad, thats some good news but she said she cant rule out an ectopic still and also that I may have had MMC since then as that was last week.

Got a scan tomorow to see if they can see anything more than they could last time.

God i am soooooo worried, not gunna sleep tonight!

Hi frazzled - How are you doing? I'm in the same boat as you and freaking out. I've been spotting since 6 weeks, on and off. It's been very light but I've had 4 mc's so of course, I'm anticipating the worst.

As far as resting, I've been told it doesn't matter if you're going to miscarry...but I've also heard from other women that they were required to rest because of too much trauma to the placenta. Either way, I'd take it easy if you can....

I'm working right now and trying to sit down as much as possible - I'm a teacher, so it's a little tough!

Hi all, sorry not been around - internet connection broke.

Going to start a new thread as have new question, but basically am measuring too small for dates and they can't see a heartbeat. Will rescan in ten days but it's not looking good.

Thanks for your kind thoughts, only sorry I don't have better news.
