I am 18 weeks and dying to feel the baby move. How early did you feel it in your first pregnancy...?

16 weeks but my best friend who was pregnant at the same time didn't feel anything until 24 weeks. Just one of those weird individual things. Also depends on how the baby is lying and the position of the placenta.

17 weeks. It won't be long now.

I agree. I felt at 21 weeks but some of my friends didnt feel the little bugger until 24/25 weeks. You will feel it soon enough but as a little pointer for you, lie in bed perfectly still and cup your belly gently as I think this is the optimum way to feel your baby! Your gonna love it when it happens, promise.x.

I'm 13 weeks and cannot wait to feel baby move! Nice to hear some of your felt at 16/17 weeks, hopefully won't be long now!! What "feeling" am I looking out for? Or is it so obvious I won't be able to miss it?!

I felt it at about 19 weeks. For me it was like a gentle fluttering; felt like it could almost be my stomach but then it turned to little "pokes" from inside. There's nothing like it, it always made me smile
Then it graduates to flying kicks, punches and somersaults..

19 weeks for me too. It felt like a tiny twitch - like when you get a twitchy eye. The first few times I think I just thought it was wind because I was having a lot of trapped wind as well.

hi, for me it was 24 weeks with my first and 22 weeks with my second! by the time i could feel them, they were kicks and punches as opposed to flutters.. it is amazing, although now i'm 41 weeks and i wish he wouldnt kick so much during the night!

So glad I saw this as I'm 17.4 weeks and not felt anything yet. I was starting to worry as sometimes my bump feels soft and a lot smaller than on other days and it would be nice to know that baby is all ok. Can't wait to feel baby move.

hi, I too was worrying for ages as I read somewhere it was between 17 & 24 weeks so got it in my head that after 17 weeks I should start feeling flutters. But felt nothing and so couldn't wait for my 20 week scan to make sure everything was ok, i was still growing so wasn't as worried (naive or not?!)
The baby was lengthways (feet pointing downards)which apparently explained why i hadn't felt anything. And also explained why I constantly needed the loo!

I'm now 22 weeks and feel flutters all throughout the day and night!

So blueberry69 I wouldn't worry too much but know it's easy to say that when you haven't felt anything, but if you feel ok in yourself etc, and you only have a couple of weeks til your scan!

At about 13-14 weeks, very early, a funny flutter inside. I was very slim then and my doctor said that might have made a difference.

No matter how hard I try I can't feel a single thing (other than my own pulse)! I'll have to resign myself to waiting a few more weeks. But thank you for all your answers as I now realise its not unusual to be 18 weeks and not to have felt anything yet.

I am sure the time will come when I find myself wishing it wouldn't be quite so active

About 18 weeks. I was at my desk at work, and it felt like something 'pinging' me from inside!

22 weeks with the 1st and 17 weeks with the second, coincidentally thats when my morning sickness stopped too.
am 8 weeks with no3 and can't wait so the sickness will stop!

16 weeks.
You could see it moving at 17!

Oh, the days of being slim...

Same with no.2, but lots of friends haven't felt movement until into the 20's of weeks. The position of your placenta can make a huge difference.

16 weeks, I was very slim though. It was when I was lying in bed, on stomach, after having just had a glass of ice-cold milk. Like a little bubble popping. Didn't feel it again for quite a few days and then it became more regular.

Now 37 weeks and can actually cup the knee/heel when it jabs out just under my ribcage. Oh and the baby gets hiccups a few times a day...it's wonderful.

18 weeks and two days. In the evening!

DS2 I felt at 14 + 1

stressheaderic, I'm 36 weeks and the other day I could feel something that I'm sure was a little foot (it had "ridgey" bits, like toes) sticking out. DH nearly cried, I think he must be getting hormonal now too

Report
NinthWave · 03/02/2010 21:07

Oh stressheaderic you are making me broody! I vividly remember sitting in an NHS antenatal class, DS's heel poking out by my ribs, and pushing it back down again only for it to reappear moments later

Of course, by the time I was 41 weeks he was grinding his shoulder against the inside of my pelvis, which wasn't such a pleasant feeling!
